What is yerba mate?
Yerba Mate is an herb used to make a beverage called mate, similar to green tea and widely popular in South America, where more families drink yerba mate than coffee
It is rich in antioxidant phytonutrients with research pointing towards its beneficial effects for those leading an active lifestyle, particularly in aiding exercise recovery. Yerba mate contains a variety of polyphenols including the flavonoids quercetin and rutin, and minerals, noteably potassium, magnesium, and manganese.
Why we love it
We were keen to support this nutritional approach with phytonutrient rich botanicals and a natural source of caffeine that would provide gentle stimulation without creating stress on the nervous system.
How to take it
Yerba mate is traditionally brewed from dried leaves, and you can also take it as a tea (we love the brand Yuyo). And of course it’s a key ingredient in the MACACHA ENERGY blend! Yerba mate provides the clarifying energy of caffeine but without the stress on the adrenal system. Buy it here.
