Ginger
Ginger is a remarkable spice with a vast array of healing and culinary properties and has been used as a pungent spice and medicine for thousands of years. We were looking for something that would aid digestion and assimilation of proteins and support a healthy digestive system – after all it’s not what you eat but what you absorb! Active lifestyles have a high energy demand and central to achieving this is a healthy digestive system, providing efficient digestion and assimilation of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Our Organic Ginger naturally provides many antioxidant phytochemicals, highly important compounds that elicit numerous benefits including circulatory and anti-inflammatory effects known to be helpful to health and vitality. Ginger contains very potent anti-inflammatory compounds called gingerols. Gingerols inhibit the formation of inflammatory cytokines; chemical messengers of the immune system.

Maca
Maca also known as ‘Peruvian Ginseng’ is a cruciferous plant, part of the Brassicaceae family, and has been used for centuries as an energiser or ‘tonic’ food. More recently Maca has been recognised as being a powerful nutritious ‘adaptogen’ known to be helpful in improving the body’s resistance at times of stress and fatigue, helping to balance mood. Demanding lifestyles and training regimes can benefit from a diverse range of antioxidant phytochemicals (plant nutrients). Health benefits attributed to Maca are thought to be due to the content of phytonutrients including macamides, glucosinolates, and plant sterols. We have selected Organic Maca from South America as a pivotal ingredient in our blends for its rich tradition as a therapeutic and nutritional powerhouse. Ongoing phytochemical research continues to highlight Maca’s health giving properties.

Flaxseed
Yes, flaxseed has been around in health food stores for a long time – for a reason! It is packed with plant-based omega-3 fatty acids, called alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), fiber, vitamin B-1, manganese, magnesium, and phosphorus. As banal and humble as it may seem we chose it because it delivers. When we looked at how much fibre, omegas and vitamin B it became clear we had to include it. Ongoing research confirms the potent effects of flaxseed in reducing inflammation, improving omega 3:6 ratios, and supporting digestive health (particularly the good bacteria in the gut). This traditional approach of including such a simple ingredient highlights the importance of wholefoods for systemic health and improved vitality and performance.
